Day 1: Arrival in Shimla / Narkanda

• The Vibe: Transition from the plains to the mountains.

• Highlight: Stay in Narkanda instead of Shimla for better views and a head start on tomorrow’s long drive. Visit Hatu Peak if time permits.

Day 2: Narkanda to Sangla/Chitkul

• The Drive: Enter the Kinnaur Valley, driving through the famous “cliff-hanging” roads of the Hindustan-Tibet Highway.

• Highlight: Reach Chitkul, the last inhabited village on the Indo-Tibetan border. The Baspa River and the snow-peaked mountains here are legendary.

Day 3: Chitkul to Kalpa

• The View: A short drive to Kalpa.

• Highlight: Kalpa offers the most iconic view of the Kinner Kailash range. Watch the peaks change colors during sunset. Visit the Roghi Village (Suicide Point).

Day 4: Kalpa to Tabo (Entering Spiti)

• The Change: Watch the landscape shift from lush green Kinnaur to the barren “Moonland” of Spiti.

• Highlight: Stop at Gue Monastery to see the 500-year-old naturally preserved mummy of a Buddhist monk. Reach Tabo, home to the “Ajanta of the Himalayas.”

Day 5: Tabo – Dhankar – Pin Valley (Mud Village)

• The Adventure: Visit the Dhankar Monastery, perched precariously on a cliff. If you’re fit, take the 1-hour trek to Dhankar Lake.

• Highlight: Enter the Pin Valley, known for its unique flora and fauna (home to the Snow Leopard). Stay in Mud Village, the last point of the valley.

Day 6: The “Highest” Villages (Kaza Local)

• The World Records: Head to Kaza and explore the surrounding high-altitude villages.

  • Hikkim: Send a postcard from the World’s Highest Post Office.

  • Komic: The world’s highest village connected by a motorable road.

  • Langza: Famous for the giant Buddha statue and prehistoric fossils.

Day 7: Key Monastery & Chicham Bridge

• The Icons: Visit the Key Monastery, the largest and most photographed training center for Lamas in Spiti.

• Highlight: Cross the Chicham Bridge, one of Asia’s highest suspension bridges, hanging over a deep gorge.

Day 8: Kaza to Chandratal Lake via Kunzum Pass

• The Peak Experience: Cross the mighty Kunzum La (4,551m).

• Highlight: Reach Chandratal (The Moon Lake). You’ll have to trek the last 2km to the lake. The reflection of the mountains in the crystal-clear blue water is unforgettable.

• Stay: Luxury Tents at Chandratal

Day 9: Chandratal to Manali & Departure

• The Final Stretch: Drive through the rugged Batal-Gramphu stretch and cross the Atal Tunnel to enter the lush greenery of Manali.

• Departure: Evening Volvo or private cab from Manali.
